Meet Willow, an adorable 3-year-old female Ruby Cavalier King Charles Spaniel currently being fostered in Cherry Hill, NJ. Rescued from a commercial breeder, Willow has embraced her new life with enthusiasm and is eager to find her forever family.
Willow is a curious and social companion who enjoys being part of family activities. She plays well with her foster family’s three other Cavaliers and loves meeting new people during walks or outings to dog-friendly places. Her favorite pastime is playing fetch, and she delights in greeting visitors with a wagging tail.
With youthful energy, Willow enjoys running, chasing, and exploring her surroundings. She often rummages through the toy box to find her preferred toys, which she then places in special spots around the house. A true Cavalier, she follows her humans closely, eager to assist in any task.
Willow loves adventures, whether it’s neighborhood walks, park visits, or shopping trips. She is an excellent car passenger and always excited for a ride. At home, she cherishes cuddle time on the couch or bed, especially enjoying belly rubs and nestling in your arms.
Initially overweight at 34 pounds, Willow has made great progress, shedding seven pounds through a strict diet and regular exercise. She now weighs 27 pounds and walks between one to three miles daily with her foster sisters. Her adoptive family should be committed to maintaining her healthy lifestyle.
Willow is learning basic commands and working on housetraining. She does well with a consistent schedule and follows her foster sisters outside but hasn’t yet learned to signal when she needs to go out. Patience and continued training will help her master these skills.
At night, Willow prefers sleeping in the big bed with her humans and foster sisters, though she also uses her dog bed. She had a spay and dental cleaning (with no extractions) while in foster care and was treated for pancreatitis, which has been resolved. She has a grade two heart murmur that doesn’t require medication and is up-to-date on all vaccinations.
Willow gets along well with other dogs and is good with both younger and older children; she hasn’t been tested with cats. She would thrive in a home where someone is present most of the time, and having other dogs would be beneficial.
