Bentley is a sweet and cuddly 6-year-old Blenheim Cavalier King Charles Spaniel who recently found his forever home after being released from a Lancaster County commercial breeder. Despite his challenging past, Bentley has shown a remarkable capacity for love and affection. His favorite activity is cuddling up with his new family on the couch, relishing every moment of snuggle time.
Adjusting to life as a cherished house dog, Bentley has made significant strides. He thrives in the company of his human companions and prefers not to be left alone for extended periods. Having another dog in the household provides him with comfort and companionship, helping him feel more secure. At night, Bentley enjoys the comfort of sleeping in the same room as his family, finding peace in their presence.
Bentley greets visitors with a wagging tail and his endearing looks, showcasing his friendly disposition. While he has interacted with other Cavaliers, he has not been tested with cats or children yet. Continued socialization and exposure to various environments will aid in building his confidence and refining his leash-walking skills.
House training is an ongoing process for Bentley. He may circle to indicate his need to go outside but is still acclimating to leash use. A home with a fenced yard would be ideal to accommodate his potty needs and provide a safe space for exploration. Bentley is cautious on stairs, taking his time to navigate them.
Recently, Bentley underwent neutering and a dental procedure, during which 25 teeth were removed. This hasn’t dampened his enthusiasm for food and treats. A cardiologist evaluated him for a grade 5/6 heart murmur; currently, he doesn’t require medication but should have annual check-ups to monitor his heart health.
Weighing approximately 15 pounds, Bentley could benefit from shedding about half a pound to reach his ideal weight. He’s on a low-sodium diet supplemented with daily salmon oil, and heart-healthy treats are recommended to support his training and well-being.
Bentley’s journey from a commercial breeder to a loving home exemplifies his resilience and capacity for joy. His new family is fortunate to have such a devoted and affectionate companion.
